Today the Maryland State Department of Education released its new Maryland Model for School Readiness(MMSR) Kindergarten Assessment data, and it showed that in 2012-2013, 76% of Head Start children entering kindergarten were fully ready to learn. This is a 6% increase from the results last year. In addition, progress and improvement from last year have been made in every single domain area.
It is also important to note that in two short years, Baltimore City Head Start has gone from 61% to 76% overall in preparing children for school. This is outstanding and demonstrates how important Head Start is in achieving the goal of ensuring all children enter school ready to learn.
Congratulations Baltimore City Head Start staff and families in ensuring that our children are receiving the Head Start they need to be successful when they enter school.
