CURRENT EVENTS

2017-2018 Energy Assistance Program 

Starting July 3, ALL Baltimore City residents can visit ANY Community Action Partnership Center or the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) to apply for assistance with their utility bill(s).  Qualifying customers may apply for Energy Assistance Grants annually. We encourage residents to apply online here. For more information please call 410-396-5555.

Customers applying in person for energy assistance should bring the following items with them:

  • Photo Identification
  • Proof of total household income for the last 30 days including all sources of income
  • Proof of residence (rent or lease agreement, mortgage)
  • Social Security card(s) for all household members
  • Current utility bill

Eligible applicants must have an existing BGE account and meet the following income guidelines:

Summer Food Program 

The end of the school year is coming soon and that could mean a lack of food for some city kids. With the Summer Food Program, kids will not have to miss lunch during the summer months.

Beginning Monday, June 19 to Friday, September 1, ALL Community Action Centers will serve FREE lunch from to kids 18 years of age and younger. FREE lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at ALL centers. Kids can enjoy their lunch at any center—while learning and receiving information about services, workshops, and programs.

PAST EVENTS

Financial Literacy & College 101 at Morgan State University 

This summer, Baltimore City CAP is providing FREE financial capability workshops and college preparation activities onsite at Morgan State University (MSU). YouthWorks worksites, camps and community organizations can sign up for any of the Financial Literacy & College 101 Session at MSU workshops. Youth in grades 8 - 12 and ages 13 -19 are encourage to participate. 

Financial topics to be covered include: understanding how money works, managing debit cards, setting financial goals and learning how to prepare a budget. Participants will also learn how to prepare for college through SAT preparation, college admission requirements, a college tour, financial aid, student and parent loans and work-study programs. There are currently six sessions left at MSU. The dates include: July 20, July 21, July 27, July 28, August 7 and August 8. Cherry Hill Senior Manor Pop Up 

If you are a South Baltimore resident and are in need of financial literacy education, food nutrition education, energy conservation tips and energy assistance, please visit us at Cherry Hill Senior Manor | 901 Cherry Hill Rd., Wednesday, June 7 from 10 am - 3 pm for assistance. Zeta Center Pop Up

On Tuesday, June 13 (8:30 am - 4:00 pm), Baltimore City CAP hosted a Pop Up at the Zeta Center for Healthy and Active Aging | 4501 Reisterstown Rd. We provided a number of services to city residents such as: energy and water assistance, financial literacy workshops, food nutrition workshops and energy conservation tips. Penn North Community Resource Center Pop Up

Baltimore City CAP's next Pop Up Center will be held at Penn North Community Resource Center (1610 N Carey St) on Wednesday, June 28 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Mayor's Back to School Rally and Community Day Family Expo

It is time for the Mayor’s Annual Back to School Rally and Community Day Family Expo. This year, the event will be held B2Son Saturday, August 6 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Baltimore Convention Center Expo Hall | 1 W. Pratt Street. The Elevation: Community Continuum Resource Fair

On Friday, June 17, 2016, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Baltimore City Detention Center, Baltimore's Safe and Sound Campaign and the Mayor's Office of Human Services will host The Elevation | Community Continuum Resource Fair. The resource fair is geared towards providing resources for those returning from incarceration and their families.

Community Action Day Resource Fair & Youth Forum

On Saturday, May 14, 2016, at War Memorial, Community Action Partnership will host its Community Action Day Resource Fair & Youth Forum. The one-day event will feature a number of service providers from around Baltimore city and an interactive panel discussion that will provide youth with an opportunity to voice their opinion, share ideas and think together about specific issues of relevance to youth.

Attendees will have the opportunity to win a number of door prizes, enter raffles for a chance to win an IPad Mini, a Gift Certificate from Shoe City, Visa Gift Cards and more….

 On Wednesday, December 16 (8:30 am - 2:00 pm) and Thursday, December 17 (8:30 am - 4:30 pm), Community Action Partnership will host our next Pop Up Center in South Baltimore. Community Action Partnership's next Pop Up Center will be held in the Barclay/Greenmount Community on Tuesday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 8:30am to 4:00pm at The North Barclay Green Community Center | 2001 Barclay St.  During the two-day Pop-Up Center residents will be able to receive help with applying for Energy Assistance, Water Bill Discounts, Eviction Prevention Assistance, Your Money, Your Goals & Eat Healthy, Shop Smart Workshops, receive FREE HIV testing, Weatherization and EarnBenefits Screening.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, from 10:00am-1:00 pm at the War Memorial | 101 N. Gay St. the Mayor’s Office of Human Services, the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services, and Baltimore Safe & Sound Campaign will host The Elevation—a Community Continuum Resource Fair.

The Community Continuum Resource Fair is a FREE event for those returning from incarceration and their families. The resource fair will have numerous service providers on hand to offer assistance for returning citizens entering back into the community. Your Money, Your Goals

Community Action Partnership’s Your Money, Your Goals workshop will begin Thursday, September 24 and will run every Thursday until October 29 at ALL centers. Your Money, Your Goals is a 6-week financial literacy and planning workshop that helps participants with managing a household budget, how to read credit reports, credit card, and debit card management, develop a savings plan and prioritizing bills.

Eat Healthy, Shop Smart

Eat Healthy, Shop Smart Community Action Partnership’s Eat Healthy, Shop Smart workshop will begin Tuesday, September 8 and will run every Tuesday until October 13 at ALL centers. Eat Healthy, Shop Smart is a 6-week food and nutrition program that teaches participants healthy eating tips, how to shop on a budget, fitness tips and small food/cooking demonstrations.

Bi-weekly, participants will receive a small food supplement box and or fresh fruit/produce to take home to their family.

If you are a Sandtown-Winchester resident and are in need of Energy Assistance, Water Bill Discount, Food Vouchers, EarnBenefits Screenings, FREE food boxes and water and Financial Education, please visit us at the NAACP Satellite Office | 1135 N. Gilmor St. Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3 pm for assistance. Assistance will be provided until Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Community Action Day

Please join us as we celebrate Community Action Month. On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at ALL centers will host a Community Action Month celebration. The celebration is FREE and will offer residents FREE Health Screenings, Cooking & Fitness Community Action DayDemonstrations, Resources from Numerous Service Providers and MORE!!
